spaghetti.

warning:  this post contains a LOT of messy baby pictures.  if food on faces grosses you out, please refrain from reading this post.

on most friday nights i try to eat pasta to fuel before my long run saturday morning.  this past friday was the night before the tulsa run, so the eating pasta ritual was no different.  except instead of going to olive garden, we stayed home and made spaghetti, salad and garlic bread.  it was good.  mr. h is a good chef for me and baby james.
so, once dinner was done mr. h brought me a plate to feed james.  apart of me wanted to feed him to avoid the potential mess but the other part just wanted me to let him dig in.  after a few unsuccessful attempts of getting the slippery pasta in his mouth, he was mad.  he was hungry and wanted food.  so, i put the plate down and let the fun begin.

it was fun but man, no more spaghetti for a while. most of it ended up in his lap and he was covered in reddish-orange sauce all the way around to his hiney.  it was up his nose and in his belly button.  it took some scrubbing to get it off too.  while i was washing him i kept thinking "oh no! what if this stains my baby?!!".  even though it was messy, i think james had fun and i actually think he got the chance to eat more of it than he would have if i had tried to feed it to him with his blue plastic fork.  and who are we kidding, it still would have been messy - just not straight to the bathtub and wash the high-chair messy.  this friday night pasta dinner was one of my favorites.  i can't wait until the next time.  i'm thinking we'll use a light colored sauce though.

  1. This might be one of my favorite posts EVER! I laughed so hard. "after a few unsuccessful attempts of getting the slippery pasta in his mouth, he was mad. he was hungry and wanted food" CRACK ME UP! Then the picture with his hand just rested on his orange belly like he had just been smearing it around. Hilarious!
