halloween.

halloween was fun this year.  we didn't go trick or treating though because it just didn't feel right.  1. james cannot say trick-or-treat and 2. we don't even allow james to eat candy.  therefore, i felt like i would just be scamming people out of their candy.  we did however dress james up, for the few minutes that he would cooperate with his props, and go to a popular neighborhood to help hand out candy.  it was fun.  james loved people watching.  he was right at the door in the thick of the action.
this year we "made" a costume based off one i saw online.  it was cute but expensive and the reviews said it looked cheap.  well i don't know about you but the last thing i wanted to do was pay $40 bucks plus shipping for a cheap looking costume.  especially when we already owned something similar that james could wear.

meet fisherman james p. sunshine.

look!  i caught one!!

mr. h bought the hat and mini fishing pole during the summer and can't wait for james to be his little fishing buddy.  we really love his rain boots and like james to wear them at every opportunity.  unfortunately, i don't think james has the same love for them.

we also tried to keep his little patagonia pants tucked in like waders but slim's little legs are too big for all that.  or his boots are too narrow.  take your pick.

i think he gets this face from me.  this is what i picture i look like while baiting a hook or unhooking a fish.  i really wanted a sweet picture with a smile with the fishing buddy hat but there was too much action.  this seems to be the case for most photo ops these days.  i like this picture.  at least i get to show you all his teeth.  right?
halloween was fun and i got to eat pizza and candy but not bring home any that i don't need.  i can't wait for next year though.  i can't wait for james to be on the other side of the door saying "trick-or-treat" and "thank you!!".  i can't wait for his excitement and joy.  i can't wait to try to take pictures.  but until next year, this was a great halloween for the hale household.

though i think james looks adorable.  he was only interested in the fishing pole for 5 minutes and the hat and boots didn't last much longer.  i'm glad we "made" his outfit from things he can wear again.  and i'm pretty sure mr. h can't wait for him to wear this outfit in real life to go fishing together.  truth be told, i can't wait either.

please watch out.  any item in the hand of a toddler can be dangerous.  i love my eyes.  both of them.  happy halloween, friends!
