first hair trim.

as you can tell, james doesn't have a ton of hair and the hair he does have is so blonde that it doesn't show up well in pictures.  so, you're probably like my mother and wondering why i would want him to get a haircut.  one reason - fuzzy mullet.  as seen below.

i took james to my salon, cypress avenue, and had my hair stylist trim him up.  i even warned her to dress cute because she'll be making a blog debut.  luckily, brooke is always cute and makes a cute appearance in my pictures.   when we first got there, he only wanted his momma.  i thought this might not be such a bright idea but once he warmed up, he was walking all over and talking to everyone.

he obviously didn't like the cape.  i thought it might me like a super hero thing but no, that wasn't the case.  overall, he was good.  well, i think he was good.  i've never taken a child into a first haircut before but he didn't scream or cry.  i couldn't take very many pictures because i needed to hold his hands down and keep him occupied with my secret weapon.  secret weapon for a haircut?  absolutely!

can you see it?

if not, you definitely can here:

nilla wafers!!

i hadn't had nilla wafers in years.  randomly i picked some up when i was getting milk at braum's.  we have one of those braum's markets near our house and it really has some fun food.  "na-nas" are a hit for everyone.  james likes them and they've been added to my line up of things to take with me in case james decides to act up in the car or public.  james act out?  i know.  it is rare but have you ever been that mom?  it's awful.  i feel sympathy when i see one because other people give mean glares and stares.  anyway, we have also discovered mini nilllas and those are fabulous.  i personally think those even taste better but we don't discriminate at our house.  we buy whichever size is available.  obviously we had the regular ones for this trip.  and i know the pictures look like he didn't like it but he did and he had more than one.  he would just start eating one and the get mesmerized when he saw himself in the mirror.

all done.  no more baby fuzz.  it's not a big change but i can notice.  and that's the most important thing, right?  i think it makes his hair look much fuller and thicker.  now, he wouldn't let me take a picture to show you - so you're just going to have to take my word for it.

and i want to apologize for this outfit.  he had a hoodie on that made it much more appropriate for november but i didn't dress him.  i'll just leave it at that.  i pick my battles.  but i wasn't pleased about this one.  i thought he'd be covered by the cape so i'm not going to make a stink about it but then obviously james had other plans.  oh well, james looks handsome and i don't regret his first haircut.  i was scared that i would regret it because it seems like so many mothers do.  i was risky doing it the day before our family pictures but i trust my stylist and she did exactly what i wanted and i love it.
